Submission Guidelines

Weekly Voices Email will be sent every Tuesday. Our goal is to share articles of interest and benefit for our members.

This is an opportunity for you to share highlights of articles that you have found helpful, a strategy that worked for your students, or a resource that others could adopt.

Highlights of articles will be linked to their source.  Original submissions longer than 300 words  will be linked to the online version of the publication.

Send your submissions to voices@njtesol-njbe.org.  They must be received by Thursday evening for the Tuesday publication, and please include your byline (name, school district, position).

Annual Voices Journal is the official publication of NJTESOL/NJBE, issued annually each winter. Articles in the NJTESOL/NJBE Voices Journal include current issues, classroom explorations, program description/exemplary scheduling, and alternative perspectives as related to the teaching of English to speakers of other languages, Bilingual Education, and Dual language programs including students who are U.S.-born bilinguals, “generation 1.5”, immigrants, and international students. Articles may focus on any educational level, from kindergarten to university, as well as on adult school and workplace literacy settings.

Online Voices Archives

The first online edition of quarterly Voices was published in the summer of 2010. The contents page was created as a web page which linked to uploaded PDF files. This format continued through Spring 2011. The Winter 2011 edition was the last printed copy that was mailed to members and was not online.

Starting in summer 2011, the pages were created in web format using Dreamweaver, which was used through Winter 2018. After that, the Spring 2018 issue was formatted with WordPress, which is still used today. The 2016 and 2017 issues, which are currently online, are viewable, but they need to be updated to remain accessible online.

The updated versions of the past editions of the quarterly issues are organized similar to how they were in the past, but the About page, which did not change much, is only taken from the fall issues. With the advent of the Weekly email and the yearly Journal, past editions are compiled after about a year into mostly single pages for each seasonal quarter.

Reformatting and compiling the archives is a project that will take time, but we hope to be able to finish it in about two years.

Here are the viewable editions.
